You’ve probably seen pictures of the stunning @demimoore, age 62, @goldenglobes last Sunday – looking absolutely radiant while winning Best Actress for her role in The Substance.

Her glowing appearance & powerful speech were proof that age really is JUST a number – both in what we can achieve & how we look & feel.

Of course, celebrities have access to the best in beauty & aesthetic treatments! But her hair?? (I did some research!) it’s 100% her own!! No extensions, no hair piece - just real, natural hair.

And she’s absolutely right in saying that what you eat plays a HUGE role in hair health & growth.

I’m often asked about my own hair - while it’s nothing like @demimoore’s, it’s 100% my own too – no extensions or add-ins! It’s actually grown thicker & healthier as I’ve gotten older (in my late 30’s), which I credit all to the right nutrition.

I first noticed this when pregnant with my daughter Sienna – my hair grew longer & thicker than ever, and I wanted to keep it that way postpartum (when normally the opposite occurs!) Having worked with so many women experiencing postpartum hair loss, I followed the same nutrition advice I recommend to my clients – and thankfully my hair remained the same, even five years later.

Demi has shared that she follows a strict raw vegan diet (disclaimer – I don’t advocate that!) while avoiding sugar & highly processed foods.

The truth is, good nutrition is about so much more than weight loss & restriction…

Happy 2025!! 💫 Whether you’re new to The Food Effect or have been part of this amazing community for a while, I’m so grateful you’re here!

Whilst I’m not big on New Year’s “resolutions” or the “New Year, New Me” concept - I do believe that the start of a new year is a good time for self-reflection & fresh beginnings. It’s an opportunity to embrace change & strive for better habits going forward.

With that in mind, I thought I’d (re)introduce myself & share a bit about how I might be able to help you on this journey if you’re looking for some personalised guidance & support.

I’m Dr Michelle 👋🏽 founder of THE FOOD EFFECT Ltd. & a passionate advocate of holistic health. I was born in sunny South Africa & raised in London, where I still live with my family. I qualified as a medical doctor (MD, MBBS) from University College London (UCL) & got my Nutrition (BSc) degree from King’s College London.

In 2012, I decided to combine my medical expertise with my love for food & wellness, to created my own nutrition practice, THE FOOD EFFECT, which began in London but has now expanded globally 🌍 thanks to the wonders of Zoom!

I specialise in helping clients lose weight for life & optimise their overall health, through my one-on-one program, THE FOOD EFFECT METHOD.

WHAT SETS MY APPROACH APART?? There’s no calorie counting, hunger, or restrictive dieting!

MY TOP TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY OVER THE HOLIDAYS 💃🏻🌟❤️

If the festive season has you feeling stressed about derailing your health goals - not to worry!

Here are 3 simple tips to ensure you stay on track, enjoy yourself... AND head into January feeling your best self!

1) Don’t head out hungry! 🙅🏻‍♀️
“Saving calories” by skipping meals or depriving yourself during the day when you’re headed out for the evening, is a sure-fire setup for overeating! Instead...

2) Snack smart before you head out!
Focus on protein, fibre and healthy fats for optimal satiety and blood sugar stability. This nutrition combination keeps us feeling fuller for longer, and also helps to avoid sugar cravings. @nakdwholefoods PROTEIN or FRUIT & FIBRE bars (both my favourites!) provide this combination in one neat package!

3) Change your mindset and ditch the guilt!
Don’t stress so much about food over the festive season, that it takes away from what’s really important - enjoying this special time with friends and family. WHAT’S A BIRTHDAY WITHOUT SOME CAKE!! 🎂❤️

And let’s take a lesson from the little ones - eat it if you feel like it, (quite a few of the kids actually didn’t want any cake!), don’t over analyse, ENJOY it !! ,stop when you’re full, don’t think about it after, and zero guilt!!

Remember: it’s just food!

Not something to feel bad about. Embracing this mindset can actually help you break free from cravings and rediscover the true joy of eating. Try it!! ;)

Some REAL LIFE, ZERO GLAM, MEAL INSPO for BUSY DAYS! 🏃🏻‍♀️🍠😋🙌🏽

When I want a DELICIOUS, HEALTHY, SATISFYING MEAL made of REAL FOOD ingredients - but do NOT feel like cooking, this is a go-to!

Baked sweet potato topped with some form of protein (tuna and sweetcorn here, I also love cottage cheese, or a chickpea or bean mixture for a vegan option - I have a few delicious recipes for this!)

Nothing fancy, but ticks ALL nutrition boxes, is totally delicious, gut-healthy friendly and promotes satiety and stable blood sugar levels for hours!

Eating healthily doesn’t need to be complicated or time consuming! 🙅🏻‍♀️ Life is stressful enough… cooking and healthy eating doesn’t need to add to that!
